Yellow-headed Blackbird can be seen in the areas of central British Columbia,
northern Alberta, and Wisconsin south to southern California, northern New Mexico,
and Illinois.
They range up to a maximum length of 8.5 inches. They Spends
winters in southern U.S. and northern Mexico. They Nests in freshwater marshes
during migration and winter. They prefer to live in areas where there are open,
cultivated lands, fields, and pastures. These birds nest in colonies. The nest
is a basket woven around the marsh stalks.
The female lays 3 to 5 white
eggs speckled with brown. Their diet mainly includes insects, larvae, snails,
seeds and grains. They have a white patch in wings and black colored body with
bright yellow head that is why they are called as Yellow-headed Blackbird. Their
feet and legs are also black in color.
