Tigers are well known as the largest member among the cats family. Tigers are
generally found in the regions of India, Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar and Nepal.
In total, there are nine sub-species of tiger and they are Bengal Tiger, Indo-Chinese
Tiger, Malayan Tiger, Sumatran Tiger, Amur Tiger, South China Tiger, Balinese
Tiger, Javan Tiger and Caspian Tiger.
Among the wild cats, tigers are the
heaviest cats. A male tiger measures 13 feet long including a tail and 700 pounds
of weight. Female tigers are smaller than the male tiger weighing between 100
and 181 kg. Tigers have thick yellow or reddish fur that acts as a coat for their
body which has black stripes. Tigers have approximately 100 stripes on their body.
The pattern of the stripes differs with species. Unlike other members of the cat
family, Tigers also are having an excellent skill of swimming.
Their diet
includes cattles, horses, sheeps, and deer sans goats. Generally tigers will kill
domestic animals. They have the capability of killing an ox, cow or a bull. They
rarely attacks large bull or a bear because tigers are frequently beaten. So tigers
always hunt for small animals. Tigers have extremely strong jaws and sharp teeth
make them superb predators.
Tigers do make their own territory by doing
urine or making some scratches on the trees. Most of the humans are killed by
the tigers because of entering into their territory.
A tiger is been killed
every 18 hours in India and almost all the tigers are smuggled to China and many
people in China have a belief that tiger parts have medicinal properties. Tigers
are also known as the National Animal in some countries like India, Bangladesh,
Nepal, North Korea, South Korea and Malaysia.
