Hyenas are one of the carnivore's animal and can generally be seen in the regions
of Africa, Arabia, Asia and the Indian subcontinent also they mostly reside in
arid environments like African savannahs and deserts. They have long had a rather
unpleasant reputation. With the exception of the striped hyena which has been
seen in the jungles of India.
There are 4 species of Hyena living in this
world namely Aardwolf, Brown Hyena, Spotted Hyena, and Striped Hyena. All modern
hyena species generally reside in arid environments like African savannahs and
deserts. They are generally understood to be cowardly animals that feed only on
the remains of prey killed by lions or other animals.
Hyenas differs in
color, some are gray, brown, or yellowish, with dark areas that may take the form
of stripes or spots. All hyenas have thick necks and large heads and a distinctly
bear-like gait due to their front legs being longer than their back legs. The
jaws and teeth are remarkably powerful, with the strength to crush large bones.
Hyenas are most active at night; moreover they hunt more in night. They also have
extremely strong jaws in relation to the size of their body and have powerful
digestive system and highly acidic fluids which helps them to eat and digest their
entire prey including their body skin, mouth, teeths and horns. Hyenas are very
clever and according to our scientists they are highly intelligent in equivalent
to apes.
