Herons are the birds generally found in most temperatures areas and continents
except Antarctica. There are 60 species of heron living in this world. They
are especially common in the warm tropical regions.
They generally live near along coasts and in freshwater lakes, streams, and
wetlands. The heron spends most of its time seeking for food. They feed on fish,
frogs and other aquatic species.
Unlike most of the herons, the cattle egret feeds on land. Herons build simple
stick nests, usually in trees near water. Nests and vary from a scratchy plat
form of twigs most often a balky mass of weeds and rushes that are built on
the ground among the marsh reeds.
