A frog is a green colored animal with no tail and keeps jumping from one place
to another and making a croaking sound which is noticeable and can be here through
out day and night. They have short body and long hind legs. Frogs mostly can be
seen near ponds or lakes. Most of the species of frogs can be found in the tropical
rainforests and everywhere expect Antarctica.
There are more than 5000
species of frogs found so far. Most of the frogs are found in warm countries.
Their Structure i.e. their shape and size varies with species depending upon the
frogs staying on land or in water, in trees or in burrows. The frogs staying in
water has fully webbed toes. Their skin absorbs water into their body so they
do not have to drink water to survive. The largest frog is of West Africa and
can grow up to more than 30 cm. The smallest frog is in Cuban Pygmy frog and its
size is about 1.3 cm only.
The frogs can breathe from lungs and through
their skin. Generally frogs' hunts at night and them like eating insects, small
animals like earthworms, minnows and spiders. Frogs have long and sticky tongue
where in it becomes easier for frogs to catch insects and swallow it because they
have one tooth. Frogs are also having enemy, they have been hunted by snakes,
bats, and fish and by humans also for consumption. Frogs also have different kinds
of defensive skills which also differ from species.
Some frogs have poisonous
gland in their skin and some have capability of changing their body colors to
red or bright so that they can pretend as a poisonous animal and confuse their
enemies.
Some frogs throw some white poisonous liquid stuff and protect
themselves from their enemies. Frogs are very much important for humans. Frogs
are the source of food in some countries and it is also used for medical research
which makes students the internal parts of a frog.
